Our Story

HAMILA-STONEWARE is located in the area of Cap Bon, a peninsula bathed by an azure Mediterranean that is initiated very early in the art of ceramics. The richness of the soil and the mild climate have made the region a garden above the sea where are mixed citrus, vines, roses and jasmines. The skill of craftsmen and the good quality of its clay banks were the other assets to attract the Berber and Andalusian potters who developed and perpetuated a transmitted and learned tradition. HAMILA-STONEWARE was born from the idea that this tradition and this unique know-how had to be maintained, updated and more widely disseminated. Thus she placed at the disposal of her craftsmen a place of work and creation, adequate means, and that she introduced a new ceramic called stoneware.

Tunisia, the country with the three thousand years of history, has been over the years a crossroads where several civilizations have merged and succeeded, leaving to each of their passage a legacy and a unique tradition. Tunisia, which bore the name of IFRIKIA-name that later gave its name to the whole continent: AFRICA- has been a pottery center since the dawn of time; there are magnificent Greco-Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman pieces ... which are part of its heritage.
